In yet another rescue operation, a joint team of Nepali Embassy and Indian Police on Tuesday rescued a group of Nepali women from Saket, Igno Road in New Delhi.

 

The team rescued two Indian and 16 Nepali women who had been held captive by a human trafficking racket in a small room on the pretext of sending them to Qatar and Kuwait.

 

The rescue took place the same day another group of Nepali women, who were rescued last week from a house in Delhi, reached home.

 

Last Tuesday, a joint team of Delhi Commission for Women, KI Nepal and Indian police personnel had rescued 16 Nepali women from Munirka area in the Indian capital.

 

Some of the girls were taken straight to Delhi from the bordering Nepali town Bhairahawa, while the others were taken via the Benaras route. Two weeks ago, Nepali police personnel, officials of Nepali Embassy and police forces from Benaras, Uttar Pradesh had raided the possible area after being tipped off that 150 Nepali women had been held captive in Benaras. It has been learnt that the joint team had returned empty-handed as the women had already been moved.

 

Benaras police, however, received information that the women could have been taken to Delhi. Based on the information from Benaras police, the embassy officials with the help of Delhi police conducted a joint raid on Tuesday.
