Accident reveals secret affairs of migrant worker

In an interesting turn of events, a man hospitalised after being injured in an accident has found himself in legal soup. A migrant worker in Kuwait and Iraq, Prem Bahadur Pariyar, 35, of Divyapuri-6, had been involved in a motorcycle accident a week ago.

And like a plot borrowed straight from a movie, three women reached the hospital claiming to be his wife. It was only then that Pariyar’s deeds were revealed.

Admitted in Palpa Mission Hospital following the accident, the three women had realised that Pariyar had cheated on them when they turned up at the hospital after learning about the accident. Apparently, Pariyar had been marrying the women and leaving them at their maternal home while working abroad. The women said that he used to remain in contact with them for two to four weeks during his return and used to get their hopes high with false assurances.

It has also been revealed that the three were not the only ones falling for his charm, he happens to have two more wives, who remain in dark about the recent developments. Interestingly, despite having married two women from the same vicinity,

Pariyar had successfully managed to keep his affairs secret from the women, two of whom happen to be from the same village, for seven years. Pariyar has an 11-year-old daughter from one of his wives and has registered her birth certificate. He has also made marriage certificates for two of his wives. However, he has not procured a citizenship certificate for any of his wives under his name.

Investigation has revealed that Pariyar had tied the knot with Sunita Pariyar in 1999, living in India for some time and had stayed in Nepal for a couple of years operating restaurants in Bhairahawa and Kathmandu.

Pariyar then married Devi Pariyar, with whom he has a daughter, in 2003. He also married Anupa of Pokhara last year after wooing her over the telephone.

Being treated at the hospital under police surveillance, Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari informed that all three had reached the police station to file a complaint against Pariyar for bigamy.

“We will take action against him after this treatment,” DSP Adhikari said.
