Sixty-eight girls rescued

Sixty-two Nepali girls are reported to have been rescued from Nepal-India border in the district in the past 11 months. Organising a press meet in the district on Friday, Bikash Rasaili, chief of the Birgunj branch of KI Nepal, an NGO working against human trafficking, said the NGO rescued the women aged 13 to 18 while being trafficked to India. Most of the girls are illiterate and from poor economic background. Likewise, police rescued six girls from Shikharbesi and Rautbesi in Nuwakot district around 10 days ago. Police also arrested five people involved in the incident. The girls, aged 14 to 19, were being taken to India.
