Refugees on warpath

Bhutanese refugees of Beldangi camp, who are on a fast-unto-death demanding identity cards and relief, have threatened to padlock government and donor offices if their demands are not met.

The women refugees of the camp started their hunger strike on November 15. Central Member of Nepal Human Rights Organisation, KP Subedi, had visited the camp to enquire about the health of agitators and asked the concerned body to find a solution to the crisis.

Among 15 strikers, Renuka Magar’s condition is said to be critical. “PM Baburam Bhattarai has instructed the Home Minister to look into the problem,” a supporter of the agitation said today.

Coordinator of Relief Deprived Refugee Group, Nandu Poudel, had conveyed the government about the situation through Hello Sarkar.
