Deprived of salary‚ receive death threats

Fifty-five Nepali migrant workers have landed in trouble in Malaysia after their employer, Mega Jumbo Company based in Pot Kelang Wangshapuri, refused to provide salary and other facilities that it had pledged. The panicked youth lament that the company proprietor threatened to kill them after they asked for their salary.

The Basundhara-based Mid Employment Services Manpower Company in Kathmandu had sent the youth to Malaysia for employment after the employer pledged them monthly salary of 1,200 Ringgit with food and accommodation. Tara Bahadur Karki of Okhre Terathum told this daily over the phone, ‘’The employer has deprived the workers of food and sleep. Most of our friends have no option but to sleep on the floor. They are suffering from diarrohea and common cold, and their life is under threat.’’

According to Karki, the youth are from Dang, Palpa, Gulmi, Baglung, Tanahun, Gorkha, Dhading and other districts. Dozens of Bangladeshi nationals have also been living in sub-human condition along with the Nepalis.

The youth have appealed all concerned to help them return home.
