Nepal, Qatar Sign MoU On Tourism, Legal Assistance

Nepal and Qatar signed agreements on bilateral cooperation in the fields of tourism and law in the presence of head of states of both the countries on Tuesday.

The agreement on tourism aims at promoting tourism in both the countries and paves way for investment in tourism industry in Nepal while the agreement on legal assistance is about exchange of legal experience and expertise between the two countries, according to Nepali officials.
According to Nepali Embassy in Qatar, Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hrideyesh Tripathi and Qatari Minister for Justice Hasan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanem signed the memorandum of understanding on Tourism Cooperation in the presence of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani at a ceremony at the Amiri Diwan, the office of the Qatari emir. 
 
"The agreement on tourism aims at promoting Nepal as a safe tourism destination," said Jay Bahadur Rai, second secretary at the Nepali Embassy in Qatar. 
 
Rai added that the agreement is expected to pave way for investment in Nepali tourism industry. 
Similarly, the memorandum of understanding on Assistance on Cooperation in the Legal Field aims at exchange of lawyers, training and expertise between the two countries, said Rai. Meanwhile, President Yadav and the Emir held a bilateral meeting at the latter´s office, the Amiri Diwan, on Tuesday. 
 
During the meeting, Yadav urged the Emir to open an embassy of Qatar in Nepal and to take initiatives to increase the quotas of Nepali migrant workers. Yadav, according to the official, also requested the Emir to consider Nepal for investment in tourism, agriculture, power and infrastructure development. 
 
"The Emir has responded to Yadav´s requests positively," the official said. The president, who attended a state lunch hosted by the Emir on Tuesday, also extended an invitation to the Emir to visit Nepal at a convenient time. The president, who is in a first four-day state visit of the gulf country, also visited Hassad Food Company, a Qatari investor/ developer in the field of agriculture and livestock. The president will return home on Thursday.
