Manila to host migrant workers' meet

Philippines is hosting meeting of labour sending and receiving countries meeting in April next year. 

The decision has taken in 15th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting of the International Labour Organisation in Japan on Thursday. 

We are hosting the second Ministerial Consultation on Overseas Employment and Contractual for Countries of Origin and Destination in April 19, 2012, said secretary at Department of Labor and Employment Rosalinda Baldoz. About 20 Asian and Middle East countries will participate in the ministerial consultation including Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. 

The meeting will discuss the trend on labor migration between sending and destination countries. 

These will include market trends and remittance flows, matching labour demand and supply, prevention of illegal recruitment, and developing policies which will benefit both origin and destination countries.

The first Abu Dhabi Dialog was held in 2008 and was participated in by the 20 countries, together with other partner and observers.
