Kin Want 'Abused' Maid Back

Family members of a Nepali migrant worker, who lost her job after she accused Israeli prime minister wife of assault, have demanded that she be allowed a ‘dignified’ return.

Tara Malla of Thuladihi-9, Syangja, who was working at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence, had accused his wife Sarah of mistreating her. Malla, who was employed to help look after the PM’s ailing father-in-law Shmuel Ben Artzi, was later sacked for ‘repeated negligence’ in his care.

Tara, a post-graduate in management, had been running a primary school before heading to Israel, locals said. “She went to Israel six years ago,” said Surya Bahadur Malla, one of her relatives. “She went there looking for a job as the school being run by her family, Surya Kiran Boarding School in Putalibazaar, was shut after it failed to pay donations to the Maoists. Tara’s husband Kiran also left for Afghanistan four months ago.

Tara’s 80-year-old father-in-law Man Bahadur, whose wife died three years ago, called on the government to take steps to secure a dignified return for Tara.
