Govt appoints six labour attaches

The government has appointed labour attache for six major foreign job markets– Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Kuwait and South Korea– after months of debates in candidates and processes. 

Appointment of labour attaches have confirmed after Ministry of Foreign Affairs consent to proposed candidates, said Purna Chandra Bhattrai, joint-secretary of Ministry of Labour and Transport Management. “New labour attachés will be deployed to destination countries 
 
after giving language and diplomatic training to them,” he said. “It will take about two months.” 
 
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, proposal to appoint labour attachés in six major destinations have approved. “Proposal from Ministry of Labour and Transport Management has approved on Friday,” said Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs. 
 
According to the decision, six labour ministry officials– Chandeshwor Acharya, Indra Lal Pandey, Amal Kiran Dhakal, Hira Paudel, Srijan Tiwari and Karishnahari Pushkar Karna– have appointed in labour attachés in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and South Korea respectively. 
 
According to Foreign Employment Act, the government should appoint labour attache in overseas job markets where number of Nepali workers is above 5,000.
