Appeal to save Nepali languishing in Saudi jail

Kin of Umesh Yadav (31) of Machi Jhitkaiya, Dhanusha, who has been languishing in a Saudi Arabian jail for five years awaiting execution for the murder of Pakistani national Mohammad Talish Bashir, have called on the government, the Nepali Embassy in the Gulf country, journalists and lawyers to secure clemency for him.

The Saudi court verdict to sentence the migrant worker to death has shocked Dhanusha. Yadav’s family is having sleepless nights after it came to know about the death sentence.
Yadav has been saying he did not kill Bashir on purpose, the Nepali embassy in Saudi Arabia said. Uday Raj Pandey, Nepal’s ambassador to the kingdom, said, “We have sought clemency for Yadav.” “We are in touch with the Pakistani Embassy to convince the victim’s family to accept compensation. Yadav can get amnesty if Bashir’s family accepts compensation.”
