850 aspirants reapply for Korean jobs

850 Nepalis seeking jobs in South Korea under the Employment Permit System have reregistered their applications at the EPS-Nepal Office in four days until Wednesday.

Gyan Nath Dhakal, acting chief of the office said 10 percent of the total job seekers re-applying for the Korean jobs were female.

The Korean government´s Human Resource Department (HRD) notified around 5,700 aspirants to re-register their application to retain their name in the job-roster, awaiting list for jobs.

“We will forward the list of the candidates to HRD Korea for re-entry in the job-roster once the process to re-register applications are completed. They will be gradually selected by the Korean government for job contracts for the year 2013,” said Dhakal.

To implement the re-registration process, the government had opened applications from the concerned aspirants from Sunday by setting net week´s deadline.

The government has already designated five hospitals - Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Civil Servant Hospital (CSH), Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital (STIDH) , Nepal-Korea Friendship Hospital (NKFH) and Patan Hospital (PH) to issue health certificates for candidates.

The job-seekers have to submit their applications with fresh health reports to qualify for the re-entry in the HRD´s job-roster. Out of the total 5,700 candidates who were urged to re-apply, applications of 3,693 will be accepted in the first phase.

As the validity of health certificates expired, the Korean government had recently sent a list of around 5,700 candidates (3,693 first lot and 2,000 second lot) randomly selecting among around 9,000 candidates who failed to sign job contracts in time under EPS.

As per the existing provision, names of candidates will be de-registered from the roster once their medical reports´ validity expires. Those, who want to qualify for EPS jobs again, have to pass medical test and refill the job application at EPS Nepal Office within specified deadline.

Around 15,500 youths registered in HRD´s job roster after qualifying through the Test of Proficiency in Korea (TOPIK)- Korean language test and heath check up to try their hands on Korean jobs in 2011. However, only 6,039 of them have actually signed labor contracts, leaving around 9,000 candidates to re-register their candidature in the roster.
