8 children handed over to parents

Police today rescued eight children from Dhading, between the age groups of eight and 11, who were taken for upbringing after making forged documents, and handed over to their parents.

The children were taken to Biratnagarbased Eastern Region Orphanage. According to police, the children were made ‘orphans’ on paper at their parents’ consent.

Police have arrested Dhading resident Dorje Tamang after Biratnagar-based CWIN Helpline confirmed that the letter sent to the Eastern Region Orphanage mentioning eight children as orphans from Dhading’s Tipling and Jharlang VDCs was fake.

After the parents came to know that orphanage refuse to accept their wards, some parents had reached Biratnagar to receive their kids.

Police said the incident came to the light after Dhading Child Welfare Committee Officer Hari Upreti inquired Dorje Tamang who had reached Biratnagar with recommendation letter bearing a forged signature.
