44 women rescued

As many as 44 Nepali women, who were rescued from Damdong Rishang Garment Factory in Liaoning Province of China, left for home, said the Beijing-based Embassy of Nepal in China on Saturday. Of them, 41 returned through Kunming transit and three others via Dalian.

They will reach Nepal on Sunday, the embassy said. The embassy and the concerned Chinese authorities came to their rescue after the women complained of being deprived of remuneration and facilities against the terms and conditions in the contract signed by them with the garment factory owner. The women had flown to China in the second week of June by obtaining work permit from the Department of Foreign Employment.

The embassy informed that the concerned outsourcing company in Kathmandu would bear the cost incurred in their travel to Nepal. It, however, did not mention the name of the company that had sent the women to China.
