‘4,318 women disappeared from Banke in 16 years’

Banke-based Maiti Nepal regional office received 4,318 cases of women disappearance in the past 16 years. According to the anti-human trafficking organisation, 834 cases were registered in the past one year alone. Most of the missing women were trafficked to  neighbouring India or the Gulf states, according to the report made public on Sunday. The whereabouts of only 619 women have been found so far, said Keshab Koirala, regional coordinator of Maiti Nepal. Most of these women were located in different parts of India before they were rescued.
