114 Tibetans held, freed

Police on Wednesday night detained 114 Tibetan refugees from Thankot in their effort to get into the Capital.

They had entered Nepal via India through Birgunj for tourism purpose, but with no valid documents, police said. According to DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh, spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, police released 24 of them after they showed their passports. “As the others failed to produce any travel document, they were referred to the Department of Immigration for action,” he said. “Although their entry was illegal, nothing suspicious about them was reported during interrogation.”
