‘90 pc’ of Nepali workers in Israel women

More than 7,000 Nepalis, 90 percent of whom women, live and work in Israel, according to a report made public by the Foreign Nepali Worker Rescue Centre. The Israeli government stopped placing demands for Nepali workers two years ago. But the country agreed in August to issue visas for Nepali nationals willing to work there.

People willing to go to Israel for employment opportunities now need to undergo skill and language trainings. Israel is a notable destination for Nepali caregivers and farm labourers.

Kashi Nath Dahal, director of the Department of Foreign Employment, said, foreign employment had not got due priority owing to an organisational conflict in Nepal.
