Six US-bound Nepalis arrested in Mexico

Six Nepalis — including 410 of the migrants were from Guatemala, 47 from EL Salvador, 32 from Ecuador, 12 from India, three from China and one each from Japan, and the Dominican Republic and Honduras each — were arrested in Mexico on their way to the United State of America on Thursday.

Chiapas state prosecutors say they also arrested 513 migrant on their way to America, according to the reports.

Four human traffickers are also arrested in the change of facilitating the immigrants. “Some 513 migrants were found inside two trailer trucks when the trucks checked in Tuxtla Gutierrez using X-ray equipment,” it said, adding that the tractor trailers were traveling northbound from Guatemala, andheading to Puebla, a city two hours outside of Mexico City. Each migrant reportedly paid $7,000 for the day-long journey. According to reports, Mexican authorities have been sending illegal immigrants to their respective countries after legal procedures.

It is not a new incident as around 25 illegal Nepali migrants were arrested in El Salvador while they are heading to US in a small boat on July 9, 2009.
