After facing disillusionment abroad, two brothers, Om Bahadur and Laxman Khadka, of Tityang-5 have ventured into animal husbandry back home raking in handsome returns.

The Khadka brothers who had been working in Malaysia and Qatar have now started a dairy farm in Baglung Municipalty-4. They have been earning Rs 130,000 monthly from the farm set up a year ago. "We are both servants and masters in our farm. Now we are selling around 90 liters of milk every day," said Laxman.

There are over a dozen milch cows and buffaloes of fine breed in the farm. They had bought buffaloes for Rs 60,000 each and cows for Rs 110,000 each.

"We had feared that our investment would go down the drain. But, the venture has turned out to be lucrative with each cow giving more than 10 liters of milk at one time", said Laxman.

The Khadka brothers moved to Baglung bazaar from their village and set up their farm there so that they could market their products easily. They have built the farm on the plot leased for an annual Rs 20,000. They deliver milk to around 45 households themselves.

"We have provided home delivery service to our customers. However, demand for milk is very high," Laxman informed. They also are planning to expand their farm so as to be able to meet the growing demand for milk.

"Both my sons invested their earnings in this dairy farm. Now they are making good money in the village itself," said Chand Bahadur, the father.

Other unemployed youths in the village have also been inspired by the success of Khadka brothers.
